FCAN Begins Voter Registration Drive In Orlando

FCAN opened a new office in Orlando with the goal of registering 20,000 new voters for the 2010 election. The new project is called Orlando Votes! FCAN has registered large numbers of voters in past elections, so this is nothing new, but it is very exciting. Thanks to generous support from SEIU and other funders, the new office opened on Colonial Drive.

The 2010 election cycle is one of the most important in recent times.  Issues that FCAN and its members supported and fought for are central to the outcome.  For example, many people see the election as a referendum on the recently passed health care bill.  FCAN worked hard as part of the HCAN coalition to pass the bill, although we, like many other, aren't completely happy with the final bill.  As we work our way through neighborhoods, we'll be talking to folks about health care and other issues of importance in this election.  The folks we talk to will be empowered to make a difference.

Orlando Votes! Goals

FCAN's mission is to empower underrepresented members of the community. We believe that minorities and low income groups are among the most underrepresented, and so those groups are a primary focus of our work. In addition, FCAN will seek out and register individuals we believe share our ideals, as embodied in our mission statement.
